Oliver Masefield Selected as AIAA Fellow

Back to the news

Congratulations to Electra’s Senior Advisor, Dr. Oliver Masefield, on his selection to the Class of 2025 Fellows by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), the world’s largest aerospace technical society.

AIAA Fellows are recognized for their significant contributions to aeronautics and astronautics. Since 1934, only 2,092 individuals have received this prestigious honor.

Oliver is among the most respected engineers in aircraft design, development, and aerodynamics in the aviation industry. He led the development and certification of all new Pilatus Aircraft over forty years including the PC-12 and PC-24, as well as the Eclipse 500 aircraft at Eclipse Aviation and the original design which became the Beechcraft T-6 Texan II. Oliver uses his talents and experience at Electra to guide the development of the EL9 Ultra Short aircraft.

Electra Founder and Chairman Dr. John S. Langford, himself an AIAA Honorary Fellow (’24), said “I’m especially thrilled at Oliver’s selection since this makes him a second-generation AIAA Fellow.   Oliver’s father, Sir Peter G. Masefield, was an AIAA Honorary Fellow in 1955, when the AIAA was called the Institute of Aeronautical Sciences (IAS).  It is a really great day for the Masefield family, the Electra family, and the AIAA family.”
